Book Description Follett Publishing Co. Chicago. 1940., 1940. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Squarish book about 8 by 8 inches with some 28 unnumbered pages. Bound in heavy pinkish-rust cloth with full front cover color pictorial paste-on. End papers illustrated with a two page scene of kitchen preparations (Same for front and rear). Illustrated on alternating pages in color and black/white by Lois Lenski (And of course, the cover and end papers). Christmas in Vermont is the theme and if that makes you think of the movie White Christmas then you are probably as old as I am. Interesting variation in that the Follett Publishing Co. name is printed on the Title Page with the Grosset & Dunlap copyright info at the bottom. And inside the front cover is a handwritten inscription: Presented to Linda Lea Hadley by Wilcox-Follett Co. Unusual to say the least. Slight scuff on front cover; light general wear. Charming book. VERY GOOD Language: eng Language: eng 0.0. Bookseller Inventory # 8375

Book Description Grosset & Dunlap, New York, 1940. Hard Cover. Book Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Good Plus. Lois Lenski (illustrator). Presumed First. This is an apparent first edition copy. At time of writing this description, I have two copies of this title with the exact same wording on the jackets (including price) and the same wording too as to any title page/ copyright information. However, one copy is bound in cloth at the spine and has coarser paper (and is thicker); the other is bound simply in paper-covered boards. Apart from these things the books are exactly the same. Right now I am considering them both as presumed firsts (and I see both bindings listed as firsts by other booksellers). After that lenthy introduction, here's the description for this copy: Illustrated paper-covered boards with blue cloth spine, illustrated end papers. Previous owner bookplate on inside cover (vintage girl scout plate), no other markings, very clean, crisp pages, NEAR FINE. Jacket has some tears and chipping and about a roughly shaped, nickle-sized piece out on back panel at top near spine, about Good Plus. Price intact on flap. Please see photos. Not Signed.
