Contemporary calf, very skillfully rebacked retaining original spine label. Gutters of last two leaves strengthened, corners of boards worn, else a near fine copy. Fourth edition of a very popular and delightful satire on Charles Burney's The Present State of Music in France and Italy and The Present State of Music in Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Provinces. Bicknell's satire was first printed in 1774 and went through several editions. It has been attributed to several other authors. Bookseller Inventory # 10642
