Although this product catalog (sic) was printed in 1934, much of the equipment covered and illustrated is of much older vintage and evocative of times down on the land that are now most only fleeting memories. while some component designs have changed very little. The first and major part of the catalog is devoted to pumps. pumping machines, hand pumps and sprayers --- mechanical and manual. There is then a small section on power washing machinery, The next large section deals with the company's hay handling tools; which include ropes and pulley devices, steel tracks, slings, grapple forks and steel tracks for storage shed doors. Probably the most engaging feature of this catalog is the high quality of the very detailed b/w illustrations (engravings??) that accompany each item of equipment. Also included are tables regarding technical calculations for the equipment on offer and "how to" advice for potential buyers. An evocative and nostalgic flash-back to the past when arm-power and horse-power were not yet things of the past. 1934 edition, 372 pages, brown covers appear to be in an early plasticised mock letherette flexible material. At top, front on a dark green panel are the words "Myers Pumps, Hay Tools, Door Hangers." A similal panel, front lower right edge states"Complete Catalogue 66 1934." Across the lower front runs another panel with "The JE Myers and Bro Co, Ashland Ohio." On the front cover lower left is the impressed (raised) figure of a girl spraying a running boy (top right) witha hand pump. Adjacent the spray line running diagonally across the cover is the text "Take You Hat off to the Myers". On the spine is a similar dark panel headed "1934 Myers Complete Catalog ". In the centre of the back cover (same brown flexible material) is what appears to be the impression of a company trade-mark or logo. Externally the covers are VG with some very slight edgewear. However, the reverse of the front cover has an unobrusive damp stain at the top one/third, but this is not evident on the front cover. Slight page buckling from damp extends (with decreasing effect) to about page 65. The edges of the first two pages of the text block have been nibbled to a ragged vertical edge by insects while the top edge is damaged to a lesser extent ---these are confined to the page margins. On page 31 the vertical margin has a few small marks (not perforations) also apparently made by insects, these do not detract from the text material. Apart from these impediments and some light creasing on the few early pages, the text block is otherwise VG. Size: 22.5cm By15cm. Bookseller Inventory #
