A handsome First Edition, First Printing of an early Van Allsburg book with number line 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1. With 13 full-page illustrations by Van Allsburg. In orange cloth with gold gilt titling, the book is in fine unread condition but for a small light mark on the title page bottom edge and touches of wear to the cover edges. The dustjacket is complete with the original price and ISBN on the back panel but has several closed tears, loss at the spine ends and touches of wear on the creases. Protected by an archival plastic cover. A very interesting Van Allsburg book. Bookseller Inventory # 2764

About the Author:

Chris Van Allsburg is the winner of two Caldecott Medals, for Jumanji and The Polar Express, as well as the recipient of a Caldecott Honor Book for The Garden of Abdul Gasazi. The author and illustrator of numerous picture books for children, he has also been awarded the Regina Medal for lifetime achievement in children’s literature. In 1982, Jumanji was nominated for a National Book Award and in 1996, it was made into a popular feature film. Chris Van Allsburg is a former instructor at the Rhode Island School of Design.
