About this title

For more than 20 years, Gaelic soprano N?ir?n N? Riain and the monks of Glenstal Abbey have evoked worldwide acclaim for their authentic re-creations of the medieval liturgy's choral masterworks. Mystical Ireland offers, for the first time in one collector's set, N?ir?n's most memorable hymns, laments, carols, and prayers, accompanied by the uplifting voices of the Benedictine monks of Glenstal Abbey. Includes the albums: Vox de Nube, The Virgin's Lament, and The Darkest Midnight. Forty-nine traditional songs, in Gaelic, Latin, and English. With pipe organ, tin whistle, and harmonium.

From the Label:

For the past six years, Noirin has been guest singer, together with the Paul Winter Consort, in the Winter and Summer Solstice concerts at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York and is a featured soloist on a commercial recording of the events. She has been selected twice by the Irish Government to perform in India and has entertained visiting dignitaries on many occasions. Noirin visited Bosnia and Croatia several times singing for various gatherings and in Muslim and Christian refugee camps there and twice in war-torn Sarajevo. Ni Riain has given major recitals and workshops at many of the leading Sacred music festivals worldwide notably Rotterdam, Bruges, Oxford, Cardiff, Findhorn and Musica Sacra in Maastricht.
