About this Item

Small Octavo. 143p. A rare item issued by the Kansas City Post besides giving the 10 major points for how boys get subscriptions, keep them and address problems, there is a long section on the history of newspapers with illustrations and also of the newspaper boy. In 1622 they were taught to "hawk" newspapers in London, in the U.S. it began in 1754 where boys in delivering to outlying areas along the frontier were taught how to look out for Indians and yet they were paid very little, it goes on to describe how with the large towns and modern cities, it is much better for the newspaper boys. Bound in flexible cloth cloth lettered in black. Light finger soiling. A very goo copy. Bookseller Inventory # 016242
