Description:

Offprint publication reprinting a single chapter of the first edition of the Washington, DC WPA guide. Staple-bound booklet, H 23.25cm x L 15cm. Paginated as 209-247 (plus covers) correlating to the page numbers of the original guidebook. White paper covers soiled with a few nicks along edges, slight rust to binding staples, three-line ink stamp at top of front cover "From your Congressman | Jack Nichols | 2nd Oklahoma District" as most copies of the booklet were presumably distributed as Congressional lagniappes. Interior pages are clean and binding remains firm. Map of Capitol Hill and Vicinity on verso of front cover; two illustrations and three b/w photographs plus an elevation drawing and two plans. The Government Printing Office issued one other pamphlet offprint from the DC guidebook of the chapter "The White House." Both publications are quite uncommon. A good+ copy. Bibliographical references: Scharf & Schoyer Catalogue #670; September 1941 WPA Writers' Program Publications catalogue - page 8. Description copyright David Hallinan, Bookseller.
