About this Item

First Edition. 8vo, publisher’s original cloth backed, gilt decorated, paper over boards, upper cover with tipped on decorative label designating the authors. xv., 108. A bright, clean and handsome copy. Presented is one of Conrad’s and Hueffel’s collaborations completed in 1906 before their relationship terminated, but published in 1924 just before Conrad’s death. Interestingly enough, the two authors, eighteen years later, seemed to ask each other for forgiveness-- in sad words, Conrad ends his preface with, "The pity of it is that there comes a time when all the fun of one’s life must be looked for in the past".
