About this Item

Originally copyrighted in 1895, this book covers the history of the river, the state, and with emphasis on the city and its founding and early history under France, then Spain, then the United States. It covers the period under the pirate Lafitte, the War of 1812 and the Battle of New Orleans, then ante-Bellum times through the Civil War. Unusual condition for a book of this age, still tightly bound and without names or markings. The plain paper DJ has protected the book but is now tired, age tanned, reinforced with cellaphane tape, and edgeworn, but actually looks better than described. Now in mylar cover.
