About this Item

xi, 44 pp., iilustrated with frontispiece and 10 colored wood engravings (2 are double-page); 8vo, original mauve cloth, matching slipcase. Commissioned by the Grolier Club as a sort of sequel to their 1915 "New York" - with text by Walter Prichard Eaton and color wood engravings by Rudolph Ruzicka, "New York Revisited" took on a character of its own following the tragedy of September 11, 2001. Schanilec's frontispiece engraving shows the City laid out in dark, somber lines, with the twin towers of the World Trade Center in the distance, dimly rising like a gray ghost into the sky. Limited edition of 250 copies, this #180, signed in the colophon by Gaylord Schanilec and Kenneth Auchincloss. Bookseller Inventory # 20759
