About this Item

Tan cloth with tan letters in a green field on the spine and with a vignette in green on the front cover of what appears to be a stylized thistle, the image also found on the title page. Fore-edge untrimmed. Rear panel of dust jacket has a black and white photo of the author, Joan Colebrook. Just hints of wear to extremities, cloth clean green letters and decorations bright, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. Just jacket slightly worn around the edges and very lightly soiled, but most all there and not price-clipped. Born in North Queensland in a land of pioneers, Joan Colebrook was educated at the University of Queensland and became a writer and poet. Shortly after World War II her first novel appeared, ALL THAT SEEMED FINAL and then AUSTRALIA: THE ISLAND CONTINENT, which became a Junior Literary Guild selection. Colebrook was married to Harold Van Kirk and lived in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. THE NORTHERNER is a novel about a pioneer family in the bush country of North Queensland, a place the author knew well. Bookseller Inventory # 006888
