Label and gilt title on two. , Text in Farsi. 340 leaves, 20 lines per page, script in fine naskh, red, blue, and gilt rules around text, occasional commentary in outer margins in period hand, a few ownership inscriptions and one stamp.The Nafahat al-Uns, a compendium of biographies of Muslim saints, was written in 1479 and has long been a source of historical information on Sufic mysticism. This famous prose work includes about 600 biographies of Sufis, covering the 2nd/8th - 9th/15th centuries. Jami is known for his achievements as a scholar, mystic, writer, composer of numerous lyrics and idylls, historian, and the greatest Persian and Sufi poets of the 15th century. He was primarily an outstanding poet-theologian of the school of Ibn Arab? He wrote in a variety of literary genres, both poetry and prose, as well as commentaries on the KORAN and treatises on rhetoric, grammar, music, and Sufism. Some 40 extant texts are attributed to him. In the mid-nineteenth and twentieth century, there was a resurgence of scholarly interest in Jami?s lyric poetry.
