About this title

The outspoken center fielder of the New York Mets tells the inside story of the team's '86 season, with details on their victories in the playoffs and the World Series and insights into the team's off-the-field controversies

From Library Journal:

"Nails" as in "tough as" is the nickname of the scrappy lead-off hitter for the Mets, one of the heroes of the 1986 post-season. His two-run homer won the third game of the playoffs against Houston when the New York team was desperate for a victory. Dykstra's account of the championship season is not without humor, a gritty retelling of events through the eyes of the unconventional center-fielder. However, while salty language may be expected, mention must be made of the continual gratuitous use of four-letter words, which apparently are a major part of Dykstra's vocabulary. New York libraries should have a demand for this book, but it is recommended with reservations. Jo DeLapo, Queens Lib., New York
