Charming owner's bookplate. Chesterton foresaw the danger of the authoritarian state. The book is a fantasy with the major character modeled after Max Beerbohm. Collectivism, in the form of Communism, was perceived by Chesterton as a danger to the individual, but he misapprehended the dangers of Fascism.
