The Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road Company (B & O), America's first common carrier railroad, was chartered on February 28th, 1827 by the Legislature of Maryland for the construction of a railroad connecting Baltimore with the Ohio River. Construction began on July 4th, 1828. In two parts. The first part (pp. 7-189) is by S. H. Long, president of the late Board of Engineers, and titled "Part I. Containing an account of the proceedings of the Board of Engineers, etc. from its organization to the 1st of Oct. 1829, and embracing a period of one year and three quarters." The second part (pp. 1-95) is by Wm. Gibbs McNeill and titled, "Part II. In continuation of the narrative and containing an expos? of facts." Lacks folding table: Both the NUC and WorldCatC call for a folding table for this pamphlet (though Sabin doesn't mention one). 8vo.
