About this Item

presumably the first American Edition as no other printings are listed; most probably published in the 1870s or 1880s based upon the existence of the Scribner and Welford publishing company which ultimately becomes Scribner's. A very tight clean book which has boards decorated in grey, maroon and gilt showing Nat aiming his gun. although the interior are tight and clean except for page aging the front board is loose and the spine label is missing ; the corners are bumped and there is also a very small area on the front board which looks like a very small stick on label has been removed still a quite attractive book with edges stained grey to match color on cloth boards. there is also a 32 page catelogue at the end listing Scribner and Welford's catalogue of books for young people. Store Description

Rare Reads formerly operated a storefront in The Lakewood Antiques Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia but reverted to a strictly online operation when the Gallery closed. In 2006, Rare Reads published "The Heeey Baby Days of Beach Music" which received a bronze medal from The Independent Publishers Association. Long sold out, copies of the 13 pound tribute to the musicians who created the unique R&B genre are occasionally available on ABE. The book was a collaborative effort of Rare Reads and many others including the musicians that created the sound Southerns term "Beach Music." Rare Reads is considering future publications in addition to expanding its online enterprise. Rare Reads is operated by Greg Haynes and son Reid Haynes and has warehouses in Atlanta and Athens, Georgia.
