Very scarce book which was submitted as a dissertation for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Book is clean and tightly bound with no names or writing. Faults include light creases to front cover which lie flat and a partial coffee cup stain to back (see photo). Measures 6"x9" and has 351 pages. Former owner's name and the date 1955 is written on last page in book. Topics include, but are not limited to, social and economic change, immigration and Catholicism, anti-Catholicism, politics, the Know Nothing Party, and state and federal elections. 351 pages.
