The owner's initials and date is inked onto the front cover - "C H A 1859". His name of "C H Allen" is also inked onto the top of the title page. 5 additional blank pages have been attached at the front and also at the back. Entries are dated from Jan 10 on a daily basis, with a heading of "slow" and the readings are 36.13, 36.12, 36.11, 36.10, 36.09, 36.08, 36.07, 36.06 - 1/2, and so on.
