245p., front. (map), first edition, inscribed "To George Brodsky, With fraternal greetings, Harry Haywood, Sept. 3, 1948," shelfworn dj with minor chipping at the head and tail of the spine. Haywood (1898-1985), was an early Black activist in the Communist Party and the first Black to attend the Lenin School in Moscow in 1926 where he became an advocate of self-determination for Blacks in the Southern "Black belt." He fell out of favor with the C.P.'s leadership in the late 1930's. This book was published thanks to a subsidy by Paul Robeson. Bookseller Inventory # 88902
