Autograph letter signed by Neill Brown, Tennessee Governor, to Horatio Seymour, Governor of New York. Dated : "Nashville Aug, 8th 1868."Letter is docketed on verso and reads "Neill S. Brown, Nashville, KY Aug, 8, 1868 - Introduction." Includes an engraving of Brown, no publication information. Very good with light soiling at mailing folds. Brown writes to Seymour, providing a letter of introduction for two gentlemen, Col. Jonathan Buick(?) and Lafayette B(?). Brown (1810-1886) was Tennessee Governor from 1847-1849, U.S. Minister to Russia from 1850 to 1853, and Speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives. Horatio Seymour (1810-1886) served in the New York State Assembly, Governor of New York from 1852 to 1854, and was the Democrats' candidate for President in 1868. ; 8" x 5"; 1 pp. Seller Inventory # 020005
