Wilson Simonal descreveu a mais meteorica e tragica curva de ascensao e queda ja vista no Brasil. Na metade final dos anos 1960, Simonal rivalizava apenas com Roberto Carlos em termos de popularidade. Dez anos depois, acusado de ser o mandante do sequestro e tortura de seu contador, foi estigmatizado como da ditadura militar e, oficiosamente, acabou condenado ao ostracismo artistico ate morrer em 2000, corroido pelo alcool, pela depressao e pelo esquecimento do publico.

Simonal era culpado ou inocente? Dedo-duro ou vitima de difamacao movida por rancor, inveja, racismo?
