About this Item

Fine copy of Algen's stories about two dozen in all, about the grittiness of life in the city, especially Chicago's west side,( where I was born). These are not pretty stories. They are tough, abruptly realistic tales of the lost, the strayed, the disinherited, the possessed .those who have known failure more often that success. These stories are for the most part " neighborhood tales" ranging through the brutal streets of the West side, the area that is depicted with such force in Never Come Morning. There are stories of women, one of a spanish war veteran, and four which deal with incidents of World War II Book is near fine, slightly bumped at corners and slight fade at top extremities. jacket is quite attractive, minor chipping at front fold corners, verso is abundantly and finely repaired. jacket is unclipped ($2.50) and protected in mylar. This is a fine collectible for any fine library. Bookseller Inventory # 000175
