Otto Sverdrup (1854-1930) was a Norwegian Arctic explorer who jointed Nansen on his expedition to the North Pole aboard the Fram in 1893; after Nansen quit the ship to seek the Pole on foot, Sverdrup assumed command of the ship, a post he held for 3 long years while trapped in the ice. He and his men took extensive journeys on Ellesmere Island and Grant Country, contributing valuable information to the study of those regions. For your consideration are these 2 volumes of Sverdrup's Four Years in the Arctic Regions published in the German language by Brockhaus in 1903. Condition notes: Good. These two octavos, measuring 9 ¼ inches by 6 inches, are bound in ¾ pebbled cloth over marbled boards; these are somewhat rubbed, the bindings shaken.
