About this Item

226 page carbon typescript, with holograph corrections in the hand of Clement Wood. Pinned into a folder with two labels on the front cover. One label reads "The Neutron Murder Case/ by / Paul L. Hazlitt"; the other "Paul A. Zahl/ 5 Prospect Pl./ NYC". Paul Zahl was an American biologist, photographer and explorer. Although he did important research in cancer at the Haskins Laboratories, he was best known for his work as senior scientist at the National Geographic Society. In 30 years, he published more than fifty articles for "National Geographic", more than any other contritutor. This manuscript features the story of a scientist who solves the murder of a Broadway actress - she was murdered by a boron isotope and then exposed to neutrons! Clement Wood was an indefatigable writer, who supplemented his income by ghost writing and by editing poetry and non-fiction works. An unpublished work of fiction by an American scientist. Laid in is a signed conract between Wood and Zahl to write two books (1941). Bookseller Inventory # 002717
