xi, 352 pages; 9 pages of ads; green cloth publisher's binding with design on the cover (native lodge and totem pole) with gilt lettering. Former owner's ink inscription on the front flyleaf dated Christmas 1891. Maturin Ballou (1820-1895) was a prolific writer and publisher from Boston, Mass. He co-founded 'Gleason's Pictorial' and was the first editor of the 'Boston Daily Globe'. This volume is one in a series of travel books he wrote during the 1870s and 1880s. Contains excellent information on the Alaska panhandle and its sea towns. Very good clean copy. Seller Inventory # 12972
