About this Item

This is a 5-5/8 inch by 9-1/2 inch softcover with light tan wraps. It records the 1860 visit to Boston of the Prince of Wales, the future King Edward VI (1901-1910), Queen Victoria's eldest son who was about 19 years old at the time. The title page may be missing. The first 4 pages (1-4) are local advertising and the next leaf contains pages 7/8 which is an introduction. The text pages extend to page 46 with an additional 6 pages of advertising. Printed in small type. The spine is lacking and the covers' edges are tattered with some small cover stains. The back cover wrap is almost fully detached. The pages are clean and are still crisp. Tucked inside the book is a small, folded sheet of paper with the inscription - "Prince of Wales Bouquet - Revere House - Oct. 20, 1860". A dry flower is pressed into this sheet. The prince was staying at the Revere House (hotel) while in Boston. The book mentions that the prince was presented to a 105 year old veteran of the Battle of Bunker Hill (1775) with whom he spent 15 minutes in conversation. Bookseller Inventory # 11063
