A large, striking panoramic view of lower Manhattan, that portion that is south of Central Park, looking across the Hudson River from a viewpoint in Hoboken, New Jersey. The borough of Queens is seen clearly across the East River. City Hall, the financial district, Greenwich Village, Chinatown, The Battery, Tribeca and Roosevelt Island are all identified. There is a lot of maritime activity to be seen on each of the rivers. Published as an extra supplement to weekly news journal "The Illustrated London News". Size: 440 x1160 mm. Uncoloured woodcut engraving. Good condition. Panorama has folds and the back has been strengthened. There are repairs to tears in the margins. Presented in handmade wooden frame.
