From the Inside Flap: Praise for Store Front - The Disappearing Face of New York

"If you're at all interested in the passing cityscape, this book is a documentary mother lode."
--THE NEW YORK TIMES

"The tone is elegiac as much as it is celebratory; interviews with shop owners make it clear how close to extinction many of them stand, and the photographers report that nearly a third of these businesses have gone under in the time that it took to make the book."
--THE NEW YORKER

"A photographic homage to the city."
--NBC TELEVISION NY

"Soon James and Karla Murray's vivid collection of photographs may be all that remains of New York's colourful and distinctive shopfronts."
--THE LONDON TELEGRAPH

"The heart and soul of New York. Showdown for the most beautiful shops in the world."
-- DER SPIEGEL

James and Karla Murray have been photographing the streets of New York City since the 1990s. They witnessed firsthand how many of New York's local neighborhood stores were disappearing. After the publication of their highly acclaimed bestseller Store Front - The Disappearing Face of New York in 2009, the Murrays knew that in order to continue faithfully documenting the stories of New York's storefronts, they needed to explore the city at night.

In New York Nights, another layer of the city's rich history is revealed. Shop owners interviews bring to light their pride in both the history and craft of their business as well as their love for the City of New York and its endless possibilities,

All of these illuminated facades radiate a vivid sense of excitement.
