About this Item

B01GW3PJ6S Dust jacket condition: No Jacket (as issued). Due to weight, no foreign orders or domestic priority shipments accepted without prior arrangement as to shipping costs, which will exceed our usual rates. This book is too large for our scanner so a partial cover image is shown. Sojourn is the catalogue of the eponymous exhibition by artist Nick Cave at The Denver Art Museum, for which he created approximately 40 new works. Made of incredibly diverse collected items, Nick Cave's wearable sculptures - that he refers to as 'Soundsuits' - and multi-sensory installations take the viewer into the artist's imagination. The catalogue features essays by Kyle MacMillan and William Morrow. 184 pages with a 36 page booklet. The Denver Art Museum described the exhibit as a shared experience between viewer and Nick Cave - "a pioneer among a growing number of artists exploring the intersection of craft, performance and fine art." The exhibition catalog, brilliantly executed by Faust, was also a shared experience between the talented creative team and the reader. The cover of the 140-page case-bound book features the kaleidoscopic title wall inspired by a photo of ceramic birds taken in the artist's studio. To further mimic the cutouts in the title wall, the title is diecut into the front cover. Once inside, there is a book within a book: a 36-page perfect-bound journal that chronicles the making of the exhibition. It nests comfortably within a void formed by diecutting the first 40 pages, which were salvaged from the book's own makeready sheets. Each chapter of the book reflects its respective gallery space, which was an odyssey of media: a passageway constructed of thousands of buttons; large-scale, sculptural items made out of found objects; more than 20 Soundsuits designed to make noise as the wearer moves; and short films. 136 pages. Terms of Sale:

We guarantee the condition of every book as it's described on the Abebooks web sites. If you're dissatisfied with your purchase (Incorrect Book/Not as Described/Damaged) or if the order hasn't arrived, you're eligible for a refund within 30 days of the estimated delivery date. If you've changed your mind about a book that you've ordered, please use the "Ask bookseller a question" link to contact us.

Shipping Terms:

We generally ship by the next business day. We want your order to reach you in the same condition it leaves our shelves -- so much so that we've created our own brand of shipping mailer. CorgiPack┐ mailers are constructed with a B-flute corrugated fiberboard pad providing solid edge and corner protection in transit, protection sadly lacking in cheap bubble mailers. And they're 100% recyclable -- just put them out with the household paper! International orders are shipped via AIR and should arrive in 7 to 10 days after shipping. Oversize items (e.g. sets containing 2 or more volumes, 4to, folios) and high cost items are sometimes subject to additional shipping charges; we will contact you for your approval if such is the case. Orders shipped outside of the United States may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees levied by the destination country. International shipments may be subject to such import taxes, customs duties and fees, which are levied once a shipment reaches the recipient's country. Additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by the recipient; we have no control over these charges and can't predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs office for more information. When customs clearance procedures are required, it can cause delays beyond our original delivery estimates.
