About this Item
A smart scarce copy of this copy of Edward Young's Night Thoughts, with the relatively unknown On Part of the Book of Job. Scarce work. With portrait frontispiece. Two poems from English poet, Edward Young, known for his writings in blank verse, letters, and holy orders. Night Thoughts describes the poet's musings on death over a series of nine "nights" in which he ponders the loss of his wife and friends, and laments human frailties. While Part of the Book of Job is considered pious and rhetorical, in line with his previous works, searching for the last extent of human thought. Includes a biographical sketch of the author. Bound in full brown calf. Externally, sound with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Light loss to the head of the spine and front board. The odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting to the first and last few pages. Good. Seller Inventory # 883T80
