Synopsis:

First edition, limited to 650 numbered copies signed by the "author." Written by a London bookseller Arthur Freeman under the pseudonym of Barkworth and filled with the exploits of booksellers, collectors and librarians all in pursuit of a "fragmentary proof of a lost Latin text, printed in strange moveable types older than any by Gutenberg." This copy has been inscribed on the dedication page "Inscribed at the insistence of David Belch, who claims there is a similarity between F.L. who enters the story on p.11 and his friend, Barney Rosenthal, Berkeley, March 10th, 1989." Rosenthal has circled the letters "B.R." on the dedication page as they stand for him. Jacket spine faded. viii , 150, 3 pages. cloth, dust jacket.. 8vo..
