N.d., circa 1970. 18 cm square when closed. Unpaginated, 50 pages or panels. Niki de Saint Phalle was a French painter, sculptor and filmmaker known for her experimentation, and in the graphic arts, her work embodied the modish whimsy of the psychedelic sixties and early seventies, with its bright colors, its paisley-ish and globular patterns worked patch-like into the tapestry of a work, its primitive shapes and figures. The work belongs to the surreal camp, with its odd juxtapositions, quirky challenging of visual logic and even its free-hand cursive captions, except here the work is joyous rather than unsettling. Moderate shelf wear. A small abrasion to the edge of one panel. Bookseller Inventory #
