(Museum of Fine Arts of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic). One of 3000 copies. This copy bears a small water damage spot on the front wrapper and a crease along the rear wrapper. As of May 2024, OCLC locates three copies of the catalog. This exhibition catalog showcases Nicolai Fechin's works, emphasizing pieces created during his time in Russia before his relocation to America. Nicolai Fechin (Nikolai Ivanovich Feshin; 1881-1955) was a distinguished Russian-American painter celebrated for his vivid portraits and evocative depictions of Native Americans. An accomplished graduate of the Imperial Academy of Arts, Fechin initially taught and painted in Kazan before exhibiting his work in the United States in 1910. Following his immigration to New York in 1923, he relocated to Taos, New Mexico, for health reasons. There, he embraced the local landscape and cultures, crafting an adobe home that now houses the Taos Art Museum. His legacy lives on in this historic house, recognized on the National Register of Historic Places.
