Hubbell called "A collection of laudatory essays on well-known Northern women; based largely on printed sources, with fact and legend blended indiscriminately." This sharp copy bears a nice autograph addition, for tipped to an inner flyleaf is a Typed Note Signed from Dannett, 1p, 8½" X 11", Scarsdale, NY, 1958 December 16. Addressed to noted Lincoln/Civil War scholar Arnold F. Gates (1914-93). Near fine. She writes to this officer of the New York Civil War Round Table, "I am enclosing my check in the amount of $5.00.
