About this Item

First Edition/ First Random House Printing 1982. A first print copy with Random House 2-9---a fine copy in a near fine unclipped ($14.50) dustjacket. One very small closed end tear. This is one of only 5,000 copies that comprised the RH first press run--thus rare. Signed by McGuane on the title page. A wonderfully collectible copy from a great American author and film director/screenplay writer/Montana rancher. Similar to Larry McMurtry--and they were both Stanford University Wallace Stegner scholarship winners (along with Ken Kessey). McGuane was also a lifelong friend of Jim Harrison--another talented writer of American fiction. Very collectible copy. Bookseller Inventory # cfe12156

About this title

Former Army tank captain Patrick Fitzgerald, returning to his family's Montana Heart Bar Ranch in ruins, resolves to rehabilitate the ranch, falls in love with Claire, a married woman, and tries to lose his sadness-for-no-reason

From the Inside Flap:

patrick is a former soldier, a fourth-generation cowboy, and a whiskey addict. His grandfather wants to run away to act in movies, his sister wants to burn the house down, and his new stallion is bent on killing him: all of them urgently require attention. But increasingly Patrick himself is spiraling out of control, into that region of romantic misadventure and vanishing possibilities that is Thomas McGuane's Montana. Nowhere has McGuane mapped that territory more precisely -- or with such tenderhearted lunacy -- than in Nobody's Angel, a novel that places him in a genre of his own.
