Title: The Nootka Sound Controversy.
Publisher: Published for University Microfilms Inc. by Argonaut Press Ltd., Ann Arbor & New York
Publication Date: 1966
9" x 5.75". 484pp. Green cloth stamped in blue. Small spot on the rear board, small ownership signature, else near fine condition. A good study of the dispute over the seizure of vessels at Nootka Sound, an inlet on the western coast of Vancouver Island, that nearly caused a war between Great Britain and Spain. Its settlement ended the Spanish claim to a monopoly of trade and settlement on the western coast of North America and made possible the eventual expansion of the Canadian provinces to the Pacific.
