Folio. 416pp. Original tan cloth over green paper covered board, with white lettering on front cover. Scarce bound volume of this renown Dutch political-satirical weekly containing the complete issues published from January 5th, 1935 (29e Jaargang, No. 1) to December 28th, 1935 (29e Jaargang, No. 52). De Notenkraker first appeared in 1907 as the sunday illustrated supplement of the Socialist paper "Het Volk". During WWI, the magazine took a pacifist stand in the midst of Europe at war. When Hitler took power in 1933, "De Notenkraker" became essentially Anti-Nazi and Anti-Fascist and its powerful caricatures of Hitler, Goebels, Goering and other Nazi officials resulted in the magazine being banned from the Third Reich. The magazine ceased to be published in 1936, just three years before the outbreak of WWII. Some age-wear on binding with head and tail of spine frayed. Light damp-staining on lower part of front board (not affecting pages). Corners rubbed. White lettering partly faded on front cover. Slight soiling and age-toning on boards. Minor creasing at upper corner of some pages. Binding in overall good-, interior in good+ to very good condition. Bookseller Inventory # 27173
