E & L. A72b. Only 1250 copies of this edition were printed. Tucked in are a review of the first volume of Edel's monumental biography of James by Alfred Kazin in The New York Herald Tribune for May 3, 1953 and another in April, 1953 by John Hutchens. The relevance is that the first volume of the Edel biography was so heavily informed by this autobiographical volume by Henry James. Also tucked in is a contemporary newspaper review, unsigned and undated, of the American First Edition of "Notes of a Son and Brother." The relations of Henry James, Jr. with his elder brother, William,and his parents was critical in the formulation of Henry's artistic sensibility and the impressionistic shape of alll his work. Very small bruises at edges of spine. Offsetting to end papers and 2 internal pp. from tucked in newespaper articles. Labels removed. Rear cover defaced by traces of adherent paper. Else, Very Good.
