About this Item

Illustrated paper over boards; 8vo; pp. [48], illustrated throughout. A lavish production, so beautifully printed that each illustration appears hand-painted, with images printed on translucent acetate, die-cut and fold-out pages. Text in Italian. Spine and corners chipped; binding a bit shaken, with one gathering detached. Munari was a master of the modern illustrated book, who continually tested the bounds of printing technology and expanded the possibilities of the commercially published book. His children's books combine poignant and whimsical subject matter with innovative design and exquisite execution. "Nella Notte Buia" is one of his most fully realized productions.
