A worn but attractively bound set of Eliot's works, including all seven novels, and her first collection of short stories, Scenes from Clerical Life. 6 Volumes with additional Novels title pages with Vol number to this title, the final 2 Vols (see below) are not numbered. A uniformly bound set of 8 works in seven volumes. Worn, marked and scratched to the spines, tightly bound, with cracked hinges to some of the volumes but holding well. Vol I Adam Bede 462pp, Vol II Mill on The Floss 486pp, Vol III Silas Marner 158pp, bound with Vol IV Scenes from a Clerical Life 330pp, Vol V Felix Holt 430pp, Vol VI Romola 504pp, Vol VII Daniel Deronda 612pp, Vol VIII Middlemarch 621pp. Approximately 7 ½ inches tall. Condition Report Externally Spine fair condition gilt titles to brown and black labels, five raised bands, with six gilt decorated compartments, worn, marked and scratched, top of the spine of Vol VIII is worn with minor loss. Joints good condition worn, cracked to the base of Vol 3-4 see photo. Corners fair condition bumped and worn. Boards fair condition half leather/marbled with gilt lines separating, some scratches to the leather on a number of the volumes. Page edges good condition marbled, a little darkened to the top edge. See above and photos. Internally Hinges fair to good condition holding well, paper cracked to both hinges on Vol II, the front hinge of Vol III, and the rear hinge of Vol VIII. Paste downs good condition marbled, remains of sellotape to the marbled paper to the rear of Vol III. End papers good condition marbled. Title good condition all title pages are slightly tanned and all have a b/w vignette. Pages good condition all volumes apart from Middlemarch, Daniel Deronda and Romola have b/w illustrations throughout, pages are slightly tanned.
