About this Item

Two large volumes, 8" by 12 1/2," bound in vellum, with a title page for each volume. Here follows the complete wording of each title page. Volume I: Novum Testamentum Domini Nostri Jesu Christi, ex Versione Vulgata, cum paraphrasi et adnotationibus Henrici Hammondi, ex Anglica Lingua in Latinam transtulit, sisque animadversionibus illustravit, castigavit, auxit Joannes Clericus. Editio Secunda. Multo emendatior et adjectis, ex Editione Gallica novi testamenti, adnotationibus selectis aliisque auctior. Francofurti, apud Tomam Fritsch, MDCCXIV. An engraved Pegasus appears on the page just above the publication information. Volume I has 600 numbered pages with 8 pages of preface and gives the books from Matthew through Acts. Title page of Volume II: Epistolae Sanctorum Apostolorum et Apocalypsis S. Joannis, ex versopme Vulgata, cum paraphrasi et adnotationibus Henrici Hammondi. Ex anglica lingua in Latinam Transtulit, suisque animadversionibus illustravit, castigavit, auxit Joannes Clericus. Editio secunda emendatior et adnotationibus et gallica novi testamenti editione aliisque adjectis auctior. Francofurti, apud Tomam Fritsch. MDCCXIV. With an engraved Pegagsus above the publication information. Volume II has 724 numbered pages plus a Greek word Index, an Annotation Index, and goes from Romans to Revelation. The complete New Testament based on the Latin Vulgate version with annotations by both Henry Hammond and Jean Le Clerc. Some signs of dampstaining to the title page and first few pages of Volume I, endpapers and flyleaves foxed and yellowed. Otherwise, both volumes are in very good condition, with wide gutters and margins even though the pages were obviously trimmed when bound in the Eighteenth century. No library markings, both volumes in very sound condition with very good bindings. A handsome set of this important edition of the New Testament. Bookseller Inventory # 1354
