French poet and novelist Musset (1810-1857) had a famous love affair with George Sand (Amantine Dupin), and the poems of "Les Nuits," written from 1835 to 1837, reflect the despair he felt as they broke up. Former owner name and "Paris, 1948" on second front endpaper, else unmarked. Book has marble endpapers, three blank pages, a copyright page with a small circular color illustration, half-title page, a "Justification du Tirage" page with a number line filled in with "615 / F.F." in ink; a tissue-covered fullpage frontispiece illustration, and a second copyright page. It's bound with leather corners and spine; spine has five raised ridges and gold lettering. Some edgewear, pages show some age toning. Mylar protected. Bookseller Inventory # 003151
