INSCRIBED BY CULLIMORE on the copyright page as follows: "To / Edward W. Bodman / with the compliments of / my good friend, Elmer Belt. / clarence Cullimore / April 30 1944." 8vo. (23 cm.) 88p. Illustrated with 14 black and white captioned photos and numerous architectural drawings. Bibliography. White wrappers decorated in red, blue and black with a wrap-around vignette of a large adobe with two camels and a soldier with rifle standing guard. Wrappers slightly darkened with just hints of wear to the extremities, corners square and flat, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. And extraordinary piece of ephemera relating to Fort Tejon, as well as adobe buildings. Clarence Cullimore [1885-1963] was an architect and instructor at Bakersfield College and taught architecture at Kern County Union High School. His adobes are now prized as historic properties and are found in many communities in the San Joaquin Valley. He was a fellow of the American Institute of Architects. Edward H Bodman was a retired doctor from Illinois who moved with his family to Southern California in the 1920s. He built a Tudor Revival home in San Marino which is still known as The Bodman House. He is listed as a member of the California Institute of Technology Associates (1938), which may account for his acquaintance with Elmer Belt [1893-1980], a urologist, surgeon and pioneer of sex reassignment surgery at UCLA. Belt was also an Associate of Cal Tech and President, California State Board of Health (1940). Bookseller Inventory # 006442
