As the Japanese Defense Agency had no plans to translate into English the Japanese Military histories completed by the Defense Agency's Military History Room relating to military operations covering all operational theaters of the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy during World War II, the Japan Papua New Guinea Goodwill Society took on the task of editing, translation and printing of condensed Japanese military histories of the Papua New Guinea area of operations. Contents include: Chapter 1 Outline : Conception of the Imperial General Headquarters' Army and Navy Sections for the Papua-New Guinean Theatre prior to the outbreak of War, Main Military Operations during the period of Offensive Tactics from January to July 1942, Commencement of the Counter-attacks by the Allied Forces and the Japanese Military Operations against them from August 1942 to February, 1943, Defensive Operations against the increasingly intensified counter-attacks by the Allied Forces from March, 1943 to August 1944, Defense battles against the Australian Forces' recapturing operations, Experience of Japanese soldiers in Papua New Guinea.
