About this Item

c. 1845. Written in pencil on piece of grey paper, 1x4" . Beneath signature in a different hand in ink is written " Deaf Dumb and Blind". VG . Guaranteed original. Bridgman, born in Hanover, New Hamsphire in 1829, was the first deaf and blind American to gain a significant education, a good fifty years before Helen Heller. She used to earn money by crocheting small doilies and other objects , attaching her name to each product made. This was likely one of those attached autographs. Bookseller Inventory # a90768
