About this Item

Dorothy is a spunky, vibrant, animated and very happy teenage girl- a student at the Institution de Mlles Boure Boure, Paris, Chateau d'Auteuil. Her main subject appears to have been art and drawing. Her diary is full of visits to Paris, to the Mint, the Louvre, she watches Sarah Bernhardt perform at the theater and so on. Quote: I hadn't any time to write this splendiferous journal yesterday.; there was no chance of dropping chocks (chocolate candies) on peoples heads, there, although Ethel and I were provided with ammunition; two or three times we had to hurry away from the large kind of gate through which we had been looking, as a fat old priest would get up and hurry out. They were FAT, it made me thick of all we read in history about the monks being so wicked and drinking and eating too much.etc. Very easy to read; all neat ink handwriting. We beleives this is the same Dorothy Vaughton who was born in 1886 or 1887 and who became the first wife of the journalist and writer Henry Vollam Morton on 14th September 1915. Octavo, about 50pp. Ink stains on rear board. VG. Bookseller Inventory # a77452
