About this Item

Alice Elizabeth Chace of Rochester, New York, travelled to spend time in England and take short trips to Paris in the years 1892-1894. This one volume diary of 270 pages of ink manuscript writing has tipped-in pieces of ephemera and a few actual photographs pasted in on almost every page. Several loose pieces of ephemera are laid in also. Clearly Miss Chace loved theatre and ballet - there are many playbills and programs tipped in. She was financially well-off with frequent shopping trips, notes on current fashions, and fancy parties. She attended "The Royal Wedding" of Prince George and May. Fairly Good, later paper backstrip. Binding secure, cover worn and soiled. Very much the diary of a happy , busy, almost giddy, glamourous young woman. Alice Chace was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Rochester, Monroe County, New York in 1963. Bookseller Inventory # a87822
