It is a harsh critique of a work entitled Trois si cles de la litt rature fran oise (3 vols.), written by Monsieur S*** (ie. Abb Antoine Sabatier de Castres). The latter is accused of partiality, affectation and an excess of moral zeal in rendering his judgments upon the works of certain French authors included in the "T.S.", which covers three centuries of writings in France. Of particular note are the considerations made on the works of famous eighteenth-century authors such as Diderot, Crebillon fils, Voltaire and many others. An especially interesting resource for eighteenth-century literary studies.
