Translated into English verse with an introduction and notes and Latin text. 188 pp. The odes of Horace number 121, including the Secular Hymn. 78 of these are written in stanzas of four lines each. 36 of these 78 are in the measure called Alcaiic, 26 in the measure called Sapphic, while the rest are divided into two other measures. The book is divided into an Introduction as to the Political, Social, Moral and Religious characters of the odes, and four books, chapter to different odes as well as notes to the various book at the end of each chapter, and the final section includes notes to the Epodes, as well as the Epodes themselves, and the Secular Hymn. Burgundy boards with gilt lettering, all clear and readable. Some spotting on cover, with rubbed corner and minor fraying on top and bottom of spine. The text is tight and clean. The hours are Tuesday and Saturday 9AM-2PM and Friday 9AM-4PM which coincide with the Farm Market hours.(We will also open by appointment) The shop offers a wide variety of subjects generally found in an out-of-print bookstore and also conducts appraisals as well as paperback trading and search services. Within the store there is an inventory between 15,000 and 20,000 volumes as well as hundreds of beautifully matted prints suitable for framing. The Bookworm Bookstore also maintains on-line offerings numbering over 12,000 titles in 100 catalogues.
