About this Item

VG, no wrapper. Hard cover a little faded including gilt, but title on spine still visible. Internally very good, maps and illustrations all very good; xvi, pgs 543, includes Roll of Honour, Awards and Decorations. Increasingly rare official history of the 27th Machine Gun Battalion of the New Zealand Division. The machine gunners saw action in all the major theatres in which the 2nd NZEF served including Greece, Crete, the Western Desert, and Italy. The 27th was one of the first units of the division to engage the enemy in Greece. On Crete, the battalion was engaged in the fierce fighting for Maleme and Galatas. The history is rich in detail as well as illustrations and excellent maps. Bookseller Inventory # 9/1601
